The side of the condo tower on the seafront fell at the beginning of Thursday morning in Surfside, Miami. At least one of these people was killed, people were caught in the rubble and twisted metal, and a cloud of waste was sent to the entire district.
Several rescue personnel have been extracting survived from concrete debris into the partially crumbled building.
In a tweet, police from Miami-Dade reported that a person has died.
Santo Mejil, 50, told his wife's Miami Herald that she calls him from the building to help an elderly woman.
"She told her that she heard a great explosion. It seemed like a terrible, "The newspaper said Mejil. She called him later, he said, and rescuers brought her down.
Other victims or specifics of how many individuals were living at the building have not immediately been spoken by authorities.

Miami Dade Fire Rescue carried out searches and rescue operations and said in a tweet "with cooperation from municipal fire departments, more than 80 units were on the site."
Sgt. Marian Cruz of the Surfside Police Department stated, "We're on the stage and it's still quite lively. The building has 12 levels, I can tell you. The structure collapsed entirely on the back."
Victor Cohen, a neighbor, told the WPLG TV station that when the oceanfront flange "collapsed as a pancake," the building was undergoing a big repair.
Firefighters' teams have been walking across the rubble and taking survivors and wrecking them.
A number of flats in the still part of the building were exposed to the fall. The film shows the beds, tables, and chairs in the wrecked apartments that yet remain. Some portions of the building were hanging air conditioners, where wires were hanging.
The neighboring roads were blocked by police and numerous fire and rescue vehicles, ambulances and police cars flooded the scene.

The fall was affected by half the skyscraper in photos and video from the scenes. The area outside the building was covered by piles of rubble and debris. The department still has to say what caused the collapse.
In the southeastern corner of Surfside, the condo development from the sea view on the beach was constructed in 1981. The company now owned several double bedroom homes and demanded rates from $600,000 to $700,000.
The region consists of a mixture of old and new apartments, houses, condominiums, and hotels, with international residents and tourists' restaurants and shops. The suburb offers a strong contrast to South Beach's busy and glittered neighborhood and a tranquil, peaceful ambiance.
