A Scottish museum website became a target of a cyberattack which has filled it with Pornographic content.
The eastlothianmuseums.org site was set up by organizers ABC and aimed to make the county a must-visit destination on every travel plan.
But after the page was allegedly abandoned in 2019, a third party has now hacked the online domain and plastered it with unsavory adverts.
As well as links to adult websites, the adware contains extremely detailed blurbs about the x-rated acts that viewers can expect to find.
Ray Walsh, a digital privacy expert at ProPrivacy, has warned internet users to be wary when clicking on adverts of this nature.
He said: “There is always a danger that websites abandoned by their developers could wind up being infiltrated by hackers seeking to profit from adware..”
“It appears this is the case with this former East Lothian Museum website which has caused a nasty shock for tourists planning their visits to Edinburgh.”
