For the Iranian election which is to be held on the 18th of June, seven people have been finalized as the candidates running the election.

The finalized list of seven even includes the Iranian Supreme court's, Chief Justice. However, the candidate from the current ruling party has been removed from the list.

Iranian Television has said the chief of Iran's Judiciary Ebrahim Raisi is the Prime candidate for the presidential run. He has been widely praised for his efforts against corruption in the country.

It has been said that Raisi has also support from Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. 82-year-old Khamenei, the president of Iran between 1981 to 1989, has been holding the office of Iran's Supreme Leader since 1989.

Iran's Guardian Council, however, rejected the nomination of Ali Larijani who has been a supporter of the Iran Nuclear Deal. The former speaker of the house Larijani has said he would not appeal against the decision of the Guardian Council. Larijani was supported by the current president Hasan Rouhani.

Raisi, who lost the 2017 presidential elections, had been selected as justice for the Supreme Court on 2019.

Incumbent judiciary chief Ebrahim Raisi; secretary of the Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei; former nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili; deputy parliament speaker Amir Hossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi; former vice president Mohsen Mehralizadeh; central bank governor Abdolnasser Hemmati; and lawmaker Alireza Zakani received a green light from the council.
