Trump launches new social media after being banned from Facebook and Twitter

Former US President Donald Trump has set up a section on his website where he can post messages that can be posted on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, where he is also barred.

The step on Tuesday comes just one day before Facebook Inc's oversight board decides if Trump's indefinite suspension from the site will be upheld. Following his supporters' deadly January 6 storming of the US Capitol, Trump was banned from a number of social media sites.

In a tweet, Trump's senior advisor, Jason Miller, stated that this series of posts did not reflect the social media site that Trump intends to introduce.

He tweeted, "We'll have more details on that front in the very near future."

The blog is called "From the Desk of Donald J Trump" and features messages from Trump that can be viewed and liked, according to Fox News. According to a source familiar with the situation, it was designed by Campaign Nucleus, Trump's former campaign manager Brad Parscale's digital services firm.

Posts on the web reiterated Trump's misleading assertion that he lost the 2020 election due to massive voter fraud and disparaged Republicans who have criticized him, including Senator Mitt Romney and Representative Liz Cheney.

Both Twitter Inc. and Facebook Inc. have taken down posts from other accounts that they say attempted to bypass their Trump bans. Requests for comment about how the businesses would handle posts posted from the new space were not immediately returned.

Trump's ban on Twitter, which he extensively used and where he had 88 million followers, has been extended indefinitely, even if he runs for office again.

YouTube, owned by Alphabet Inc., has stated that it will restore Trump's channel once it determines that the likelihood of violence has decreased.
