According to a UN website, UN Spokesman Stéphane Dujarric briefed journalists in New York on Christine Schraner Burgener's plans to visit Myanmar as part of her attempts to ease the situation and set the stage for dialogue and a return to democracy.

“A visit to the country is not yet feasible under the current circumstances, as illustrated during the Special Envoy's consultations with various main stakeholders, but she is continuing to explore opportunities,” he said.

“In the meantime, the Special Envoy will make a regional visit to engage Myanmar's neighbors.”
