In reaction to the U.S. riots, New York City is severing its contracts with the Trump Organization. Capitol, which killed five people last week.
On Morning Joe Wednesday, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that the city would end its contracts with President Donald Trump's company.
"All agreements with the Trump Organization are being severed by the City of New York," de Blasio told MSNBC. "It clearly constitutes criminal activity to incite an uprising against the U.S. government,"
These contracts include a carousel and two Central Park ice rinks (including the Wollman Rink) and the Trump Golf Links in the Bronx at Ferry Point.
"The review has been conducted by our legal staff. The contracts make it very clear that we have the right to sever the contract if a business, the leadership of that business, is involved in illegal activity,” de Blasio explained. The City of New York, then, will have nothing to do with the Trump organization anymore. These contracts have profited from them. No longer can they benefit.
The mayor said the Trump Organization is actually making a $17 million annual profit from the contracts. He expected that in court they would appeal the decision.
We will have new vendors to take over. It's clear that these are areas we want to continue helping the public, but not with a criminal-led organization.
