A fire at a hospital in Maharashtra, India on early Saturday killed at least ten newborn babies.
Early Saturday on India, an Indian news media reported a fire at a hospital of Maharastra, that killed at least 10 newborn babies.
In a Hospital in Bhandra, which lies in Indian State of Maharastra,10 newborn infants have died due to a fire that took place in hospital at 2AM local time early Saturday.
Indian Primeminister Narendra Modi has tweeted about the incident saying it heart-wrenching. He wrote, "Heart-wrenching tragedy in Bhandara, Maharashtra, where we have lost precious young lives. My thoughts are with all the bereaved families. I hope the injured recover as early as possible."
India's one of the premier news agency PTI quoted a doctor saying all infants were between one to three months old. "Ten children died in a fire that broke out at the SNCU of Bhandara District General Hospital at 2 am today. Seven children were rescued from the unit," District civil surgeon Pramod Khandate said ,"Our staff extinguished the fire as soon as they could. The smoke led to the babies suffocating."
Mumbai Chief Minister Uddhav Thackrey has ordered an detailed investigation to the entire incident.
