US President Donald Trump announced via Twitter announced that he wouldn't be attending his successor's inauguration on January 20.
Trump previously released a video message condemning the riots and acknowledging the defeat. President also promised a smooth transition in the video posted after the ban on him by Twitter was over.
He said that since Congress has ratified the results, there should be "a seamless transition of power."
Trump has been banned from other major Social Media. But his ban on Twitter has ended after a warning.
Trump, however, hasn't responded to "his role" at the Capitol Hill riots.
The last US president who didn't attend his successor's inauguration was Andrew Johnson.
