Russia's Health Minister announced that more than 1.5 million of doses of Sputnik-V vaccine has been distributed.
Russia's Major news agency TASS, reported on saturday that More than 1.5 milions of coronavirus doses have been distributed over the Russian region as a part of large scale vaccination program.
"Today, more than 1.5 million [doses] have been introduced into the civilian circulation of vaccines and delivered to the Russian regions. Vaccination is very active," TASS quoted Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko."Taking into account all data, more than 800,000 people have been vaccinated."
Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin said that vaccinations should be completelty voluantary and free for citizens.
Corona Virus Cases are currently increasing at the rate of around 25,000 cases per day in Russia. Russia is the fourth most affected country by the pandemic with more than 3.2 million total cases and around 57,000 deaths.
Russian Vaccine, Sputnik V has been found to have efficacy of 91.5%. According to Reuters, since the vaccine's two doses use different components, the doses should be 21 days apart.
Despite of the initial skepticism, the Russian vaccine has been distributed around different countries.
Reports have come out that suggests the president Vladimir Putin is slated to take the vaccine. Putin's daughter took the vaccine in the early clinical trials.
