Three people were injured and all the communication systems across the state were knocked out after a parked camper van exploded in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mayor John Cooper, while giving the last update of the blast, said that this explosion has created a situation of anger among the residents and they are more determined to bring the culprits to justice.
"This was a terrible day, but Nashville has faced other challenges, particularly this year. We can rebuild and get back to normal," he reported. "This morning’s attack on our community was intended to create chaos and fear in this season of peace and hope, but the spirit of our city cannot be broken."
Police believe that the powerful blast was intentional.
Possible human remains were later found near the blast site but had not confirmed any human fatalities till now, US media report.
Officers were responding to reports of Gunshots just before 06:00(12:00 GMT) when they found a suspicious van broadcasting a warning message to leave the area.
The bomb Squad was alerted about the situation and they were on the route. 30 minutes later, the van exploded, Metro police spokesperson Don Aaron said, which knocked down one of their officers.
Officials have released the photo of the van.
The van blew up outside the building of telecoms giant AT&T, which also occupies a tower nearby.
The explosion made structural damage to the buildings. Windows were blown out. Videos posted on social media showed leakage of water from damaged pipes running down the wall as alarms howled.
Flights were briefly halted as a result of damage caused by an explosion which is resumed now.
No motive for the explosion has yet been established, nor do police know who was behind it. However, several people have been taken to the central police for investigation. It is also not clear whether anyone was inside the van during the explosion.
The FBI is on the investigation, spokesman Joel Siskovic said, along with Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
This attack was intended to create chaos among the people during a peaceful environment. Mayor Cooper reported that the spirit can’t be broken.
