Stockton, California police say they have apprehended a man suspected of killing six people in a run of heinous crimes that have shaken Northern California.
Stockton Police Chief Stanley McFadden stated that because of information and investigation work, officials were able to observe and arrest a guy while he was driving around the city early on Saturday morning.
McFadden stated during a news conference that the individual, who was wearing dark clothing, wearing a mask over his neck, and had a pistol, was "on a mission to kill,"
"We are sure we stopped another killing," he continued.
McFadden named Wesley Brownlee, 43, as the suspect. Earlier this month, authorities announced that forensic ballistics evidence has been linked to the shootings, which began last year and extended until September.
Tori Verber Salazar, the county's district attorney, stated that the office of the San Joaquin County District Attorney was analyzing the evidence and that the suspect will appear in court on Tuesday.
Six people were murdered, all except one in the Stockton region, while a seventh individual survived her injuries.
On 4 October, authorities published surveillance footage of a person of interest in the killing spree and speculated that the crimes may have been committed by a serial killer "on a mission," despite the absence of motivation.
Stockton is a city of over 300,000 inhabitants in the central valley of California, approximately 100 kilometers east of San Francisco.
