Authorities say a man fatally shot two women on Thursday night outside a church in Ames, Iowa, before committing suicide.
Capt. Nicholas Lennie of the Story County Sheriff's Office informed the Des Moines Register that the man murdered two women outside the megachurch Cornerstone Church on the outskirts of Ames. Lennie stated that investigators did not know the ages of the deceased.
Lennie stated that it looked like the shooter shot himself, although his death is still being examined.
The church is approximately 30 miles (48.28 kilometers) north of Des Moines, along Interstate 35.
The sheriff's office did not identify the deceased or provide specifics about the incident's circumstances. A press conference is scheduled for Friday morning.
According to KCCI-TV, the sheriff's office received many calls at 6:51 p.m.
