The US provided intelligence that assisted Ukrainian forces in assassinating many Russian generals killed in the Ukraine war, the New York Times reported Wednesday, citing top US officials.
Washington provided Ukraine with information about Russia's anticipated troop movements, location, and other details about Russia's mobile military headquarters. Ukraine used that information in conjunction with its intelligence to conduct artillery strikes and other attacks that killed Russian officers, the newspaper reported.
The Pentagon or the White House did not immediately respond to Reuters' inquiries on the report.
According to the New York Times, Ukrainian officials claimed to have killed approximately 12 Russian generals on the battlefield. According to the publication, US authorities failed to identify how many generals had been slain due to American information.
