The cause of the four-seater aircraft's crash is being investigated immediately after it took off from Redcliffe airstrip northeast of Brisbane at approximately 9 a.m.
The Guardian stated that four bodies, including the 69-year-old male pilot, were retrieved from the aircraft shortly afternoon.
Another guy and two children who had not yet reached the age of adolescence were also killed in the crash. Although police have not confirmed their identities, they assume they are not related to the pilot.
Queensland Police Inspector Craig White said that members of the pilot's family were there at the time of the disaster at the Redcliffe airport.
"I understand it was a family day," he told reporters on Sunday, adding, "The family is deeply traumatized, as you might expect."
White explained that the families became aware of the incident when the aircraft failed to return, and they noticed messages on social media.
"What has occurred is a tragic accident," he stated. "It's the run-up to Christmas, and this is the furthest thing from what any family needs to endure at this time of year, or at any time."
He described the flight as a "joy flight" that appeared to have been prepared.
