Sanna Marin, the Finnish Prime Minister, apologized to the public on Wednesday after a photo of her in a nightclub leaked following the foreign minister's positive test for Covid-19.

"I made a mistake. I should have given the subject more thought "On Wednesday night, Marin stated in a televised interview with public broadcaster Yle.

Marin posted on Facebook on Monday, after a Finnish gossip magazine released a photo of her at a busy nightclub, that she opted not to cut her night out short on Saturday after being notified she had been exposed to the coronavirus the day before.

Despite being told to minimize interaction with people, Economic Affairs Minister Mika Lintila attended a floorball match between Finland and Latvia on Sunday, according to the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper.

According to evening tabloid Ilta-Sanomat, Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen attended a dinner party on Saturday, whereas Finance Minister Annika Saarikko and Science and Culture Minister Antti Kurvinen canceled their participation to avoid interaction.

On Friday, all three ministers were exposed during a meeting attended by Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday.

Marin said she received a phone call from her state secretary notifying her of the exposure while she was at a restaurant.

Marin stated on Facebook, explaining why she continued to socialize, "He claimed ministers would not be quarantined since they had all been vaccinated twice."

Later, the Prime Minister's office stated it had sent the exposed ministers two text messages on Saturday advising them to avoid communication with others.

Marin said that she had left her official phone at home and depended on assistants to contact her on her personal phone.

Marin has done two Covid-19 tests since then, both of which have come back negative. Lintila and Kaikkonen were both found to be negative.
