Once COVID-19 travel limitations are lifted, a new budget airline is expected to launch in Australia in the new year, offering "ultra-low" rates for the domestic market, subject regulatory permission.
Bonza is a newcomer to the market, sponsored by 777 Partners in the United States and led by ex-Virgin Blue CEO Tim Jordan. Virgin Blue was renamed Virgin Australia later on.
The new low-cost carrier plans to begin operations with Boeing 737-8 aircraft in early 2022. Jordan, the company's CEO and founder, is aiming to profit from the predicted increase in travel after COVID-19 limitations are lifted.
