In the first match of the two-match bilateral series against PNG, the American Cricket Team defeated the opponent by 7 wickets.
In the One Day International that was played in Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Oman, the American team dominated performance throughout the match.
Steven Taylor made 82 runs off 55 balls chasing down the 159 runs target in 28.3 overs. Taylor smashed the fastest half-century in the history of USA cricket by taking just 31 balls to reach the milestone.
Although Assad Vala and Charles Amini picked a wicket each, none of the PNG bowlers were able to create an impactful performance that would cover for their poor batting performance.
Having won the toss and chosen to bat first, PNG were dull with the bat. Apart from Vala's 74-ball 61 and Sese Bau's 31 off 53 balls, no other players gave a fight that would help to create somewhat of a defendable total.
The USA's Nisarg Patel was the highest wicket-taker in the game who took 4 wickets by just conceding 30 runs in his quota of 10 overs.
The second match of the bilateral series will be on the eighth of September. PNG will play a game against Nepal tomorrow, to kick-off another bilateral series in its tight schedule of bilateral series against Nepal and the USA.
The USA team is currently in Oman to play tri-series against Nepal and Oman, as a part of ICC World Cricket League two.
