The US Navy has declared five servicemen dead following a helicopter accident in the Pacific on Tuesday, according to AP, which was quoted by Sputnik.
The Navy Times said that search and rescue activities had been ongoing since the MH-60S Knighthawk fell into the water Tuesday afternoon, some 60 nautical miles from San Diego, while operating off the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln.

According to the Navy Times, the Abraham Lincoln, littoral combat ship Cincinnati, as well as helicopter units and Coast Guard assets, are presently performing rescue efforts.
According to the command, the helicopter belonged to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 8, and the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln was “operating on deck before crashing into the sea.”
Officials have yet to provide information on what the chopper was performing before the crash.
According to the command, five sailors onboard Abraham Lincoln at the time of the collision received injuries but are in stable condition.
Two of the five were taken off the ship, while three received minor injuries that did not necessitate evacuation, according to the 3rd Fleet on Wednesday.
