On Thursday, a suicide bomber detonated a huge explosion at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, killing at least ten people. In the aftermath of the attack, the airport's gates have all been sealed.

Following the blast, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby posted on Twitter: "An explosion near Kabul airport has been confirmed. At this time, the number of casualties remains unknown. When we have more information, we will let you know."

The blast injured at least three American servicemen.

A second explosion was reported at the airport a short time later.

The incident comes after warnings from the US, UK, and Australian governments that a massive terrorist strike at the airport was "imminent." on Thursday morning.

The Islamic State (ISIS), according to the warnings, was the source of the threat.

Since the Taliban seized control of Kabul and the entire country on August 15, thousands of westerners and Afghan residents have come to the airport, hoping to be flown out of Afghanistan on one of the western aircraft participating in the evacuation.

Over 20 people have died as a result of the mayhem at the airport, including five people who clung to planes as they took off and died afterward, and seven people who were crushed to death in a stampede on Sunday.
