After contamination was discovered in empty vials, Japan halted the use of around 1.63 million doses of Moderna vaccine on Thursday, sparking fears of a supply shortfall as the country strives to speed up vaccinations in the face of a COVID-19 outbreak.
Multiple immunization locations were contaminated, according to the health ministry. Although some doses may have been given, no negative health effects have been reported.
