Evacuation attempts from Afghanistan continued Saturday, as the clock ticks closer to the August 31 deadline for the United States' military withdrawal from the country after the Taliban took control.
Because of potential security threats outside the airport gates, the US Embassy in Kabul warned Americans on Saturday not to travel to the airport without “individual instructions from a US government representative.”
The warning about the chaotic conditions at the airport, where thousands of people are awaiting departure, comes a day after President Joe Biden stated that he was unaware of any problems getting from downtown Kabul to the airport.
