Two Popular mobile brands, Oppo and One Plus, both of which are owned by the same parent company, BKK Electronics, are likely to be integrated soon.
Previously. they used some common technologies but had been separate entities. However, this "further integration" sounds like a merger-like event. Which of course, can't be said a "merger" because both the brands technically belong to the same company.
One Plus CEO Pete Lau said, "last year I took on some additional responsibilities to oversee product strategy for both OnePlus and OPPO. Since then, we have integrated a number of our teams with OPPO to better streamline our operations and capitalize on additional shared resources. After seeing a positive impact from those changes, we’ve decided to further integrate our organization with OPPO.”
Lau, however, made it clear that OPPO and One Plus will continue to operate independently and nothing on the surface will change. However, the integration would mean the OPPO phones and One Plus phones will be more alike to each other and would mean better features for both.
