The Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested a political appointee of Former President Donald Trump for his connection with the Riots at the Capitol on January 6.

The FBI took former State Department Employee Federico Guillermo Klein into custody in Virginia after being identified by tipsters who recognized him from an FBI lookout bulletin that had been issued two weeks after the riots took place.

He is the first Trump administration official to face criminal charges in connection to the Capitol siege on January 6.

He was charged with multiple felonies including unlawful entry, violent and disorderly conduct, obstructing Congress and law enforcement, and assaulting a police officer with a dangerous weapon, The New York Times reported.

Kein reportedly had a top-secret security clearance during the riots.

Klein worked as a political appointee in the State Department since 2017. He resigned from his post 13 days after the insurrection.

He was also a Tech Analyst during Trump's presidential campaign in 2016.

He has been alleged of assaulting police officers with a stolen riot shield while resisting arrest, before using it to prop open Capitol doors. He also allegedly called for reinforcement from the crowd.
