The President of the United States Joe Biden called for tougher Gun-laws.

Addressing the third-anniversary of the Parkland shooting massacre, President Biden called for strengthening the gun-laws, including background checks on all gun sales. He also called for banning assault weapons.

President joined the Parkland, Florida, community in remembrance of the shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Seventeen people were killed in the incident.

Biden also called for Congress to outlaw high-capacity magazines and make gun-manufacturers liable for the role their product played in the violence.

In a statement released by the White House, Biden said that this administration will not wait for the next mass shooting for taking action against "the epidemic of gun violence."

"We owe it to all those we've lost and to all those left behind to grieve to make a change. The time to act is now," Biden said in the statement.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ordered flags across the state to be lowered half-most from the sunrise to sunset in the honor of those who died in the shooting.

Governor DeSantis also noted safety ways improved since the tragedy such as the alert systems at the schools. 

The panic alert was dubbed as Alyssa's Law, in honor of 14-year-olf Alyssa Alhadeff, one of the students killed at the Valentine's-day incident three years ago.
