Dozens of ex-Republican officials who are unwilling to stand up with former President Donald Trump are in talks to form a right-wing-third party.

According to Reuters, the set of people involved include former officials in the Administration of Reagan, George  H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump. Former Republican ambassadors and Republican Strategists are also involved in the talks.

More than 120 of them hold a Zoom call last Friday to discuss the breakaway group. The new party, if formed, will be based on the idea of "Principled Conservatism," including adherence to the constitution and rule of law. The people involved in the formation talks say those are the ideas thrashed by Trump.

Reuters reports that they plan to run candidates in some-races and also endorse center-right candidates from the other parties, be they Republicans, Democrats, or independents.

The talks highlight the wide range of inparty-rift over Trump's false claims of election fraud and the January-6 storming at the US Capitol.
