The United States Justice Department announced conspiracy charges against two proud boys, in charges related to the Capitol Riots.
Dominic Pezzola and William Pepe, both residents of New York, have been charged with conspiring to interfere with police officers defending the Capitol, participating in civil disorder, unlawfully entering restricted grounds and other federal crimes.
Prosecutors alleged the two of removing metal barricades at the Capitol and smash the windows. Footage of the riot shows the ProTrump rioters entering the Capitol through the Broken Window.
Prosecutors also claim authorities have found "weapons-and-bomb-making manuals from Pezzola's home. Pezzola’s lawyer disputed the characterization of the material, saying it was given to Pezzola, he never opened it, and it really was a “survivalist” manual. Pezzola's lawyer argued that the government officials picked a small portion of truth to distort it in a way that suits their narrative.
Pezzola is also accused by prosecutors to chase a police officer up the stairs near the entrance to the Senate Chamber.
At least 171 people have been arrested, so far connected to the Capitol riots.
