The USA pledges to join the Global vaccination initiative by WHO to vaccinate people in the poorer country. The chief medical Advisor to President Biden, Doctor Anthony Fauci said to WHO executive board that the country will COVAX initiative.
“President Biden will issue a directive later today which will include the intent of the United States to join COVAX and support the ACT-Accelerator to advance multilateral efforts for COVID-19 vaccine, therapeutic, and diagnostic distribution, equitable access, and research and development," Fauci said during a videoconference.
“We are committed to transparency, including those events surrounding the early days of the pandemic. We must learn and build upon important lessons about how future pandemic events can be averted," he said.
Fauci's remarks came a day after the incoming President Joe Biden issued an order on his first day at office promising to restore Washington’s ties with WHO. Previously, then-President of the United States Donald Trump had announced last May that he was withdrawing the U.S. from the WHO, accusing the agency of helping China cover up the extent of the coronavirus.
