President, Joseph Robinette Biden has been sworn in as the president of the United States by the Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts. Bible that was used to sworn Bidenwas the Biden Family Bible that dates all the way to 1893.
Biden addressed the United States as the president for the first time after being sworn in as the President of the United States.
"This is America's day, democracy's day, the day of history and hope of renewal and resolve through a crucible. For the ages, America has been tested a new, and America has risen to the challenge." Biden said in his speech.
He said that the Triumph "is not of a candidate", but is of a cause of democracy, "will of the people has been heard and the will of the people has been heated. We have learned again that democracy is precious, democracy is fragile and this hour my friends, democracy has prevailed."
Biden thanked his predecessors from both parties for the presence. He also remembered president Carter who was unable to attend the inauguration and thanked him for his time in service.
He said there is much to repair, restore, heal, and much to gain. He said that "we will defeat" political extremism, white supremacy, joblessness, domestic terrorism, overcome the deadly virus with unity. He said forces that divide are deep and real but not new. "Racism, nativism, fear and demonization" are the harsh reality that has "torn us apart".
His speech was focused on unity in most of its parts. He said, "This is our historic moment of crisis and challenges and unity is the path forward and we must meet this moment as 'United' States of America."
"We must reject the culture in which facts themselves are manipulated and manufacture."
He remembered the time when women had to fight for the 'right to vote' in front of the same building where Kamala Harris is being sworn in as the first Vice President of the USA. He added, "Don't tell me things can't change."
"Here, we stand just days after a riotous mob thought they could use violence to silence the will of the people; to stop the work of our democracy; to drive us from the sacred ground," he said," It did not happen, it will not happen, not today, not tomorrow, not ever."
He said that disagreement must not lead to disunion and pledge. "I will be president for all Americans and promise you, I will fight as much hard for those who did not support me as for those who did."
He concluded his speech saying, "with purpose and resolve, we turn to those tasked of our time, sustained by faith, driven by conviction, and devoted to one another and the country we love with all our hearts. May God bless America and may God protect our troops. Thank you, America."
