Centers for Disease Control, CDC has now mandated COVID-19 test results for international flights to the USA.

In a statement Robert R. Redfield, the CDC director said,  “Testing does not eliminate all risks, but when combined with a period of staying at home and everyday precautions like wearing masks and social distancing, it can make travel safer, healthier, and more responsible by reducing spread on planes, in the airport, and at the destination.”

According to the CDC, Airlines should deny the boarding if the travelers fail to provide a COVID negative test report, documentation of recovery, or refuse to take a test.

“With the US already in surge status, the testing requirement for air passengers will help slow the spread of the virus as we work to vaccinate the American public,” CDC said in the statement.

 All air passengers will be required to take a viral test within three days before their flight to the U.S. departs from January 26. Passengers must provide the airline either documentation of a negative laboratory test result or proof that they have recovered from a coronavirus infection.

The decision has been made to slow down the increase of cases in the US.

The United States is the most affected country by the Pandemic with more than 22.8 million cases and more than 380 thousand deaths.
