A gunman shot multiple people, reportedly seven which has killed at least three people and injured four. The series of shooting lasted roughly four hours before it ended by police shooting the man dead.

In a News Briefing, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said that the shootings started at the south-side of Chicago at about 1:50 pm (2:50 ET). The suspect has been identified by the Police as Jason Nightengale.

The three deaths include a 30-year-old man who died on the spot, in his vehicle at a parking garage in the Hyde Park neighborhood. He shot a 46-year-old security guard who was sitting at the desk, who was pronounced dead at the hospital. He shot the other 20-year old men in a convenience store.

His other victims a 77-year-old woman getting her mail,  killing a 20-year-old man, an 81-year-old woman, and a 15-year-old girl who was riding in a car.

Brown has said that the information is preliminary and can be changed. The reason why the man did it is yet to be known.

"When you hear this whole story, it seems that you have a crystal ball of what he's doing next, and we all know we don't have a crystal ball where he goes next nor do we have this on any of our POD cameras," Brown said. "We are responding to the scene as these crimes are happening, getting information, and again, he's going to the next while we are trying to keep up with what's happened previously.
