Several White House staff have resigned on account of violent protests in Washington D.C., the USA, as Congress resumed to count the Electoral College Votes Wednesday Evening.

According to the report of CNN, Stephanie Grisham was the first one to submit her resignation. She was the chief staff of first lady Melania Trump.

In 2017, Grisham started working for then-presidential candidate Donald Trump in 2015 and then worked under Sean Spicer.

In response to Wednesday's disturbing event, Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Matthews has also resigned. 

“I was honored to serve in the Trump administration and proud of the policies we enacted. As someone who worked in the halls of Congress, I was deeply disturbed by what I saw today. I’ll be stepping down from my role effective immediately. Our nation needs a peaceful transfer of power,” Matthews said in a statement. 

White House Social Secretary Rickie Niceta also resigned, ABC News reported.

According to Bloomberg, Deputy National Security Adviser Matt Pottinger also resigned on Wednesday afternoon.

After President Trump's reaction to the rioters that continued to wreak havoc in the nation's capital, National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien and Deputy Chief of Staff Chris Liddell are all considering resigning, several sources told CNN.

According to NBC News, even Trump's Cabinet members, Transportation Secretary Eliane Chao is also considering her resignation.

Chao, the wife of Senate Majority Leder Mitch McConnell, was appointed by Trump in November 2016 to run the Transportation Department.

She also served as Labor Secretary of former President George W. Bush for eight years.
