North Korean state media , KCNA, reported that the North Korean ruler thanked thanked the people of North Korea, for supporting him and the Workers' Party of Korea in the times of hardship, in New Year's letter.

North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un is also holds the chair of the ruling party, WPK.

"I sincerely wish all the families across the country greater happiness and beloved people, good health," Kim said in the letter carried by the official Korean Central News Agency. 

"In the new year, too, I will work hard to bring earlier the new era in which the ideals and desires of our people will come true.

"I offer thanks to the people for having invariably trusted and supported our Party even in the difficult times."

North Korea is currently under a lot of international sanctions and is almost isolated from the world due to various reasons.

North Korean Supreme leader generally addresses the nation at the new year, however the new year's speech hasn't come out yet for the new year 2021 (Juche 110).

Kim will be looking forward to party's Congress, where he needs a firm support to continue his rule.
