First Lady Melania Trump joined other members of the inner circle of her husband, Donald Trump, asking him to accept his loss and admit defeat to President-elect Joe Biden, informed a source familiar with the talks.

The source said that although Melania did not comment publicly on the election, CNN reported that she weighed in with her opinion privately.

'She offered it, as she often does,' the source said.
Melania had previously campaigned last month for her husband's re-election campaign.

Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of President Donald Trump and his senior advisor, had previously approached the President about allowing the election, two sources told CNN.

In a statement, the move came after Trump said that Biden is "rushing to pose as the winner falsely" and that the race is "far from over."

The Hill reported that Trump claimed that networks helped the Democrat "falsely" pose as the winner and promised to fight the results in court.

In a closely contested election, President-elect Joe Biden defeated Trump, securing his victory through a victory in the state of Pennsylvania that took him past the 270-vote electoral college threshold.

Biden, a four-decade Washington figure as a senator and then a vice president, received over 74 million votes, 4 million more than Trump, and more than any other presidential candidate, in his third attempt at the White House.
