For the first time in 15 years, System Of A Down has released new music.
"Now is the time to do this, as the four of us have something extremely important to say as a unified voice together," SOAD said.
The two songs, "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz," both speak of a dire and severe war being waged in Artsakh and Armenia, our cultural homelands.
"In addition to claiming Artsakh and Armenia as their own, the current corrupt regimes of Aliyev in Azerbaijan and Erdogan in Turkey want to carry out genocidal acts with impunity on humanity and wildlife in order to achieve their mission. They are banking on the world being too distracted to call out their atrocities by COVID, elections, and civil unrest. In order to spin the truth and hide their barbaric goal of genocide, they have the bankroll, the resources, and have recruited massive public relations companies," the band said.
"There is a lot of disinformation and silencing of voices within their own countries between these two dictatorships. Freedom of speech is not something everyone enjoys, but it is enjoyed here, so part of that responsibility is, whenever possible, to get the truth out there. We are here to protect our land, our culture, and our nation. The time to turn a blind eye is not here. As SOAD, this was an incredible opportunity to put it all aside and speak out as one, as four Armenian guys, for our nation," SOAD said.
On our official Bandcamp page, "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz" are now available for purchase: SystemOfADown.bandcamp.com-where band proceeds go towards the ArmeniaFund. The funds from our new merchant collection's Bandcamp+ pre-orders will be used to provide critical, desperately needed aid and basic supplies for those affected by these hideous acts. Regardless of how you choose to listen to them today, tomorrow, and for years to come, please consider the chance to download these songs as an act of charity.
The music speaks for itself and the lyrics. "We need you to speak out for Artsakh," said SOAD.
