Prince William of Britain had contracted the coronavirus infection back in April at a similar time when the virus was also tested positive by his father, Prince Charles.

The Sun newspaper reported that Prince William, who is Queen Elizabeth's grandson and second-in-line to the British throne, kept his diagnosis a secret because he did not want to alarm the nation.

"William was quoted by the newspaper as," There were important things going on and I didn't want to worry anyone.

Palace doctors treated Prince William and followed guidelines from the government. At the Anmer Hall family home in Norfolk, he isolated himself. The newspaper added that during April, he still conducted 14 telephone and video call engagements.

The virus hit William pretty hard-it really hit him six times. He struggled to breathe at one point, so obviously everyone around him was pretty scared,' a source told The Sun.

Late on Sunday, the palace was not immediately available for comment, Reuters said.

On March 25, the residence of Prince Charles, William's father, said that Charles tested positive for coronavirus. The heir to the throne was isolated for seven days with mild symptoms at his residence in Scotland.

Britain was hard hit by the coronavirus outbreak and reported 46,717 deaths from Covid-19-defined as those dying after a positive test within 28 days. A wider measure of those on their death certificates with Covid-19 puts the toll at 58,925.
