On Thursday, the US Senate Judiciary Committee voted to subpoena Facebook and Twitter's chief executive officers (CEOs) in the midst of political bias allegations.

In a 12-0 unanimous vote by Republican panel members, the Committee requested Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to testify on Oct. 28, when Google CEO Sundar Pichai is also scheduled to testify.

After the vote, Facebook, Twitter, and Google did not make any immediate press statements.

The decision comes a week after the distribution of a news report about Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden's son Hunter was allegedly limited by Facebook and Twitter.

Last week, a New York Post report claimed that Hunter Biden had organized a meeting between a Ukrainian businessman and his father, who was Barack Obama's vice president. The claim was based on e-mails that were collected from a hard drive.

After the link between Hunter Biden and a major Ukrainian natural gas company hit the headlines in September, Joe and Hunter Biden were heavily criticized by President Donald Trump for improperly using influence in their foreign relations.

In May 2014, Hunter Biden joined the Board of Directors of Burisma Holdings and allegedly received $50,000 a month until he resigned in April 2019.

When former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko took office in June 2014, his father allegedly became Obama's point man for Ukrainian-American relations.

However, when he asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a July 25 phone call to investigate Biden and his son to gain political leverage against his opponent, Trump was accused of using his presidential powers to influence a foreign government to investigate a political rival.
