Australia is in discussions with the United States to supply newborn formula. An Australian government official said Wednesday after the top U.S. health regulator loosened its import restrictions in response to a statewide scarcity of baby food.
A representative for Australia's Department of Agriculture, Water, and the Environment stated in an emailed statement, "The Australian government will continue to work with the Biden Administration to confirm regulatory arrangements and facilitate exports of infant formula,"
Earlier this week, Reuters reported that many Australian and New Zealand dairy companies have already submitted applications to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to offer infant formula.
