The United Nations Humanitarian Response Plan for Afghanistan in 2022 launched its largest-ever plea on Tuesday, asking for more than a billion dollars to help 22 million Afghans whose nation is on the verge of humanitarian disaster and economic collapse.

According to UN Secretary-spokesperson General Stéphane Dujarric, the Regional Refugee Response Plan issued on Tuesday contains $623 million in help for 5.7 million displaced Afghans and local residents in five bordering countries.

According to the United Nations report, the complex scenario, along with the worst drought in 20 years, has driven 24.4 million Afghans, or more than half of the country's population, to seek humanitarian relief.

According to UN Humanitarian Coordinator Martin Griffiths, most Afghan families' living conditions are unsustainable, and a full-fledged humanitarian disaster is imminent if urgent action is not taken.

According to the high representative, one million children are at risk of being hungry if prompt action is not taken.
