On Wednesday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated that mandatory Covid-19 tests, which were required of international visitors no sooner than 48 hours before landing in England, will be phased out beginning Friday morning.

Boris Johnson revealed the shake-up earlier this week, following complaints from travel companies that the safeguards were ineffective now that Omicron had spread widely.

The rules for self-isolating on arrival will also be modified, according to Johnson.

They can also undergo a cheaper lateral flow test on day two of arrival instead of a PCR test starting on Sunday.

As part of the so-called ¨Plan B¨ implemented last December, the British only have to wear face coverings or masks in public transport and other closed businesses, teleworking whenever possible and to show a vaccination certificate to have access to pubs, nightclubs and some mass events.
