On Saturday in Rome, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Pope Francis and extended an invitation to the pontiff to visit the country.

“Had a very warm meeting with Pope Francis. I had the opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues with him and also invited him to visit India,” Modi said on Twitter. 

Modi released photos of the two embracing on Saturday, indicating what appeared to be a friendly meeting between the two leaders.
