Although the Australian state of Victoria has received 1838 new Covid-19 cases and seven deaths today, the state administration plans to remove the lockdown in Melbourne and surrounding areas at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.
When the state achieves its target of having 70% of persons aged 16 and up properly vaccinated, the lockdown will be lifted.
People across the state will be permitted to have up to 10 guests per day, including dependents.
The curfew and 15-kilometer travel radius will be abolished in metropolitan Melbourne, but travel restrictions will remain in force between Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Those who are already enrolled in child care and the children of fully vaccinated adults will be able to continue to do so. Most outdoor locations in Melbourne, such as cafes, theatres, and pools, will be allowed to accommodate up to 50 people, subject to density restrictions.
Indoor establishments such as cafes and restaurants will accommodate up to 20 people, subject to density restrictions and assuming that everyone has been fully vaccinated.
Thirty fully vaccinated people will be allowed in indoor settings and up to 100 in outdoor settings in regional Victoria, already functioning with fewer restrictions.
The announcement, according to Premier Daniel Andrews, signified the end of widespread lockdowns.
He stated, "Today, we are moving beyond that,"
"As a result, we're no longer detaining people across the board."
"We are instead locking people out who have not got vaccinated to protect themselves and protect everybody else."
A total of 73,501 tests were used to find the additional instances, bringing the total number of active cases to 23,376.
Victoria was not projected to meet its 70% double-dose target until October 26th, but a spike in persons seeking Covid vaccines means it will be completed by Thursday.
