George Floyd's case has been settled after Minneapolis city agrees to pay USD 27 Million to the Floyd family.

The settlement is the largest yet for police killing. There have been six major financial settlements in wake of police killings of Black people since 2015.

George Floyd,46, was killed by a Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin, by kneeling on his neck for more than 9 minutes.

Floyd's death sparked nationwide protests in the wake of the police brutality and systemic racism deeply rooted in the US administration.

Floyd's family sued four officers including Chauvin for excessive use of force and violating constitutional premises.

Although the case has been settled pre-Trial by the city for a large sum of money it is not yet clear that Minneapolis city has yet acknowledged the wrongdoing.

The settlement includes a $500,000 contribution from Floyd's family to the community at the Minneapolis intersection where Floyd died, which has been barricaded against police access by residents and is filled with flowers and other tributes to Floyd.

All the four police officers involved in the deadly arrest have been fired by the Minneapolis Police.
