Multiple Japanese media outlets reported on early Thursday that  Yoshiro Mori is set to resign over the sexist remarks he made, which has sparked public outrage in Japan and abroad.

According to Japanese Media, Yoshiro Mori has told officials that he will be stepping down from his position at the meeting of the Games Organizers on Friday.

The fate of the Tokyo Olympics is uncertain due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Tokyo Olympics athletes village mayor Saburo Kawabuchi is said to be succeeding Mori.

Mori,83, has come under increasing pressure after he said women take more time at the Meeting. He complained that the Olympics committee meetings were taking so long because the "competitive" women in attendance spoke too much. 

He has previously apologized for his remarks. However, he insisted he had head complaints that women speak at length dug deeper trouble for him.

The International Olympic Committee said they considered the matter closed, but then said the remarks were "completely inappropriate" as the backlash grew.
