The government has decided to open up tourism activities and foreign traffic to boost the economy affected by the pandemic.

The government has decided to open the border after the tourism industry collapsed due to the pandemic. The tourism industry employs about 3 million people and also brings in foreign currency.

The government said it will adopt various safety measures and procedures to stay safe from the epidemic. Tourists need to be insured and should pay for the PCR test at their own expense.

There is currently no provision of quarantine in Sri Lanka.
