Almost after a week of being taken down, the website for Parler, the conservative-friendly social media platform, was back online on Sunday with a message for the company’s “lovers and haters.”
“Hello world, is this thing on?” Parler CEO John Matze wrote on the website, above which was a note from the company that said the platform would be restored after challenges were resolved.
“Now seems like the right time to remind you all — both lovers and haters — why we started this platform,” read the note.
“We believe privacy is paramount and free speech essential, especially on social media. Our aim has always been to provide a nonpartisan public square where individuals can enjoy and exercise their rights to both.”
Amazon Web Services had suspended Parler from its servers last Sunday, after the US Capitol incident, taking the website offline unless it found a new company to host its services.
The company accused Amazon of breach of contract and violating an antitrust law over the tech titan’s decision to stop hosting the site filed and a lawsuit Monday.
In response to Parler's move, Amazon said it repeatedly warned Parler about its users’ violent posts and that the company failed to remove them.
Google Play and Apple also removed the company’s app from their stores.
Parler’s app is still unavailable for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play as of Sunday.
