The former captain of the Indian cricket team, MS Dhoni has announced his retirement from international cricket on India’s 74th Independence Day, Saturday.
Dhoni on Instagram, post an emotional video with photographs from his journey with the Indian team while leaving a heartfelt caption saying, "Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout. from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired."
Dhoni retires as India’s most successful captain in limited-overs internationals, having won three ICC trophies - 2007 T20 World Cup, 50-over World Cup in 2011, and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy - the only captain to do so.
The 39-year-old last played for India in the World Cup 2019 semi-final loss to New Zealand at Old Trafford in Manchester, played over two days on July 9 and 10.
