Various products including salads sold at some Walmart, Kroger and H-E-B stores in five states are included in a new public health alert because they contain recalled onions.
The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued the alert Wednesday night for ready-to-eat meat and poultry products that contain “onions that have been recalled by Thomson International Inc. due to concerns that the products may be contaminated with Salmonella Newport.”
Thomson International of Bakersfield, California, on Saturday recalled all red, white, yellow and sweet yellow onions shipped from May 1 through the present out of concern they might be affected, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
