President Donald Trump sent out a memo Monday directing all staffers of White House to wear face masks whenever moving around the West Wing, finally taking precautions after at least two aides in President Trump’s proximity tested positive for coronavirus.
Staffers will be allowed to remove their masks while at their desks, as long as they can maintain six feet of social distancing, according to the memo, whose authenticity was confirmed to the Daily News by a White House official. Also, including when entering the West Wing, staffers must keep their mouths and noses covered.
The memo was sent out in a staff-wide email from the White House management office, the official said. The directive does not apply to Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.
According to the CDC, wearing a face mask doesn’t necessarily protect individuals from contracting the virus, but could prevent asymptomatic people from spreading it.
